When you’re choosing a live band for you event, it doesn’t have to boil down to a choice between an ageing, tired soul band or music-college hotshots with skill but no charisma who sight-read their way through what used to be your favourite tunes.
Groovestone offer a welcome alternative. For one, Groovestone can really play. They are all music graduates and professional musicians; the quality of the vocals and music is unrivalled. But more than this, Groovestone are also a band with a sense of humour, that take great pleasure in doing what they do best; putting on an exciting, professional show, involving cheeky dance moves, audience interaction and a set that never takes so much as a breath between numbers. Fun without being cheesy, and musically skilled without being stuffy, Groovestone offer a complete package: the real deal.
The band formed in 2002 after the band members met while all studying music at university. Working together on recitals and, since leaving university, on numerous tours and hundreds of gigs together since has created a special band chemistry, which another band with a revolving-door of dep musicians just could not hope to have.
Groovestone are totally self-sufficient; dancefloor lighting and a very high quality (and adaptable) 3kW PA rig is offered as standard. Groovestone use wireless mics and in-ear monitors to ensure a great-sounding performance every time. The band is very particular about achieving the best sound and to this end use only the best equipment.
The established 7-piece party band have a lot of experience and knowledge in getting the party really flying, having played at a long line of weddings, parties and corporate functions throughout the UK, and the name and reputation continues to spread as more and more people seek to book the band on the back of fervent recommendations. Further afield, the band travelled to Europe in 2007 for a month’s contract providing après-ski entertainment in the French Alps.
The band members are tuned-in to the differing needs of individual clients, from choosing the most appropriate songs in the set to ensuring the best look and volume for the event. Clients are consistently surprised at the varied repertoire of the group and love the fact there is something for everyone to enjoy. From the soul classics (Respect, Hard To Handle) through funky disco (Le Freak, You Should Be Dancing) to modern hits (Toxic, Valerie), Groovestone have a repertoire that pleases a variety of crowds, and seamlessly blends old favourites with interesting modern covers.
Simply put, Groovestone are a young, dynamic outfit that look good, sound great and can pack a dancefloor all night long. Who could want for more?

"Just wanted to thank you for a fantastic evening!! Thank you for adding the karaoke bit you did extra for me – I think you might have an extra bow you can add to your services now!
You were efficient, professional, flexible and so easy to work with and I really appreciated that. My guests thought you all were super and you sure ended the evening leaving everyone on a high!
Many thanks again for making my evening a success!!
- Susanne, November 2008
"Matt and I just wanted to say a huge thank you for making our evening celebration so successful. When we found Groovestone and listened to your demos online we knew we had found a special band and that was proven on our wedding day.
The jazz trio started things off and when the main band started playing the dancefloor wasn’t empty for the rest of the night! So many people commented on how great your set was and we couldn’t agree more. We particularly loved the fact that there was something for everyone from friends to grandparents!
We would highly recommend Groovestone to make any type of event special."
- Matt and Lucy, June 2008
"Just wanted to say thanks so much for such a fantastic evening at our wedding in May. Everyone said how fantastic you all were, the music was absolutely what I was hoping for and all of your efforts really made the evening. I've sent your details on to lots of friends as I really couldn't recommend you guys more!"
- Kelly and Duncan, May 2008
"Thank you for playing at our Civil Partnership Party. When you have never heard a band play live before you take a risk, Groovestone exceeded our expectations 200 fold. It's a bit scary when you go off to your ceremony and are not sure what you are coming back to! The set up was great, our friends loved the jazz over champagne (in fact some even thought we had booked two different bands). We loved both sets, you really got people up and dancing. Everyone we have spoken to has commented on the band and suggested you for future events."
- Suzanne and Felicity, May 2008
"Laura and I just wanted to drop you a line to say thanks very much for all your hard work for our wedding last month. Everyone we spoke to at the reception told us that the band were excellent and they were really impressed by the quality of the music and the vocals especially. The jazz trio during the drinks reception were also great and impressed all our guests.
We'd also like to express our appreciation at how incredibly helpful you have been during the planning stage and how flexible you have been with timings and everything; it has been a real pleasure working with you. If anyone we know is looking for a band for their wedding or event, we would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Groovestone."
- James and Laura, December 2007
"From the moment I found the Groovestone website and listened to the demo's through to them finishing playing at the wedding anniversary party, the band has been fantastic.
It is really difficult to find people that you can rely on when you are organising a party and by booking Groovestone I did not have to worry about a thing. I booked the 4 piece Jazz band and the full band for the party and they were absolutely excellent.
The crowd was a real mixture of young and old, but everyone commented on how good they were. They are all quality musicians and sound superb, which really made a difference on the night.
If I organise any other events they would be first on my list to book"
- John Chambers, August 2007
“After a long day of wedding celebrations the evening started as usual with one or two couples on the dance floor but the sheer energy of the "Groovestone " ensemble reenergized all the wedding guests to the point where even those who had never been on a dance floor before were throwing themselves about with gay abandon by the end of the evening.
We would like to congratulate "Groovestone" for creating such an exceptional atmosphere. The music was a joy to listen to and a thrill to see the creativity of each individual player and singer.
We feel blessed that your group was available on our big day and that you made that day so memorable.
Thankyou all. We hope to hear you and see you again soon.”
- Mo and Jim Yost, August 2007
